The Taylor Cultural Arts Commission:
The Friends of the Arts
The Commission's first act was to start a 501c3 foundation in May 2005
called "The Friends of the Arts", which raises funds for the sole purpose
of the advancement of cultural arts within the City of Taylor.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Taylor Cultural Arts Commission
is to enhance and enrich the quality of life through the advancement of
cultural arts within the City of Taylor using public awareness and
participation through artistic and cultural activities.
Goals:
To bring as many cultural opportunities to the community as possible
Start a scholarship fund for graduating seniors going into the arts
(Started in 2007)
Commission works of art to put into city parks and at city buildings
(Petting Farm sculpture in 2007)
Build a Cultural Arts Facility to house community theatre, youth theatre,
community dance, Ballet Americana, community chorus, classrooms to teach
the arts to children, an art gallery to showcase community artists.

Commissioned Sculpture of Local Artist installed at the Petting Farm
Big Band Ball

Sponsor Professional Art Gallery at Art in the Park
Employment of over 50 working musicians throughout various events
Donation to the Senior Theatre Group
Donation to Truman Jazz Band
Donation to the Senior Bus Fund
Donation to Ballet Americana
100 plus members in the Friends of the Arts
